Chapter 2

I posted my current powerpoints for chapt. 2, but please note that I have decided not to cover the details of radioactive decay processes.  Mr. Williams (of recitation fame) and I discussed this and believe that the other material (particularly nomenclature) covered in the chapter is critical to success in subsequent chapters.  So while understanding of radioactive process is important in understanding the origin of the elements (and other nuclear applications), it would detract from some of the basic memorization necessary for chapt. 2.

Please work diligently to memorize the systematic naming of chemical compounds...both covalent and ionic.  This knowledge will be essential for dealing with the material in the next chapters.
